Receive Full Compensation When There
Has Been a Fetal Distress Birth Injury

When the fetus is not receiving a sufficient supply of oxygen, then the fetus is in "fetal distress."  This serious condition can occur during pregnancy or during labor.  There are several warning signs of fetal distress, evidenced by the fetus decreasing their heart rate, changing their movement pattern, not moving altogether, and passing their stool while still in the uterus.

To treat fetal distress immediately, an expectant mother can turn onto her left side in order to remove pressure from her blood vessels.  In addition, once she is in the doctor's office or delivery room, an obstetrician can connect a fetal monitor to determine the extent of the fetal distress.  Then she can receive intravenous fluid and extra oxygen, which should help the fetus.

However, if this doesn't work, the obstetrician needs to quickly deliver the baby via a C-section or a vaginal birth with medical tools like forceps or a vacuum.  Otherwise, the baby may develop brain damage due to the lack of oxygen.

Another tool that obstetricians and nurses can use is the fetal monitor strip, applied during labor.  The fetal monitor strip simultaneously measures the baby's heartbeat and the expectant mother's contractions.  This provides an opportunity to determine whether the baby is experiencing fetal distress, also known as fetal hypoxia, during labor.  If there is fetal distress, they can undertake a quick delivery in order to avoid brain damage to the baby.

Get the Money You Need and Deserve

When nurses and/or obstetricians fail to perform their duties correctly, fetal hypoxia can cause the baby to have a lifetime of special needs.  This extra care is highly expensive throughout the life of the baby.

When there is brain damage, you need an experienced lawyer who, with their team of independent medical experts, can analyze the medical records, and especially the fetal monitor strip.  Then you may be entitled to receive a very large sum of money to pay for ongoing medical expenses, highly-trained caregivers, loss of income, and pain and suffering.
